Every piece moves with the light
THE PROCESS
From raw sheet metal
to a living, light responsive piece
Every piece begins with raw sheet metal and ends with something that couldn't have been made any other way. The art process is entirely by hand. After marking, cutting, pressing and welding the metal to size, I then sand every surface to create the ideal foundation. From there, specialised techniques drawn from fine jewellery making are brought to a much larger scale to shape the landscape, define its contours, and bring out the natural character of the metal through patina and heat. Finished with oil and displayed where light can move across the surface, these pieces come alive, changing with the light, revealing new depth and movement from every angle.
